Full Abstract: |
Dr. Fry makes distinctions to damage of the orbicularis oris according to the nature of the injury: localized or general/diffuse. Dr. Fry has seen wind instrumental musician patients whose chief complaint was radiating pain of both lips, suggesting asymmetrical, general damage. Dr. Planas' successful treatment of a ruptured orbicularis oris inspired this surgeon to look harder for symptoms which would suggest a localized rupture. This distinction is significant as surgery may successfully treat localized damage, while it would not be effective in cases of diffuse damage. |
